Ohh that new car smell - they should put it in aerosol cans so we can have it for longer

Apparently they do somewhere according to an earlier post on here somewhere...

I'm thinking I should have gone the CRDi SLX rather than the 2.0 SR :S

Oh well...

There is a lot to be said for both models ..

Few would doubt the SR looks hot...

and that "almost" offsets the midrange torque of the diesel...

Torque is the reason I chose the diesel over the petrol in the end, and I just added a rear spoiler so Sheldon almost looks like an SR. :D

OK. Just went for a bit of a drive. Have done 200kms in it since Friday :)

For those who know Sydney I did a drive from Moore Park to Cottage Point / Akuna Bay / Church Point and back.

For those that don't know Sydney, here's a nice Google Map :)

http://tr.im/oqmo

Once you get into the National park the roads are quite bumpy and windy. I was totally impressed with SR and very happy with my choice. I was a bit worried it would give me some grief on those roads.

In the end it was very responsive. Great in the corners, up and down hill, and the steering is so very light. Quite a lot of fun. I'm not a super maniac, but did push the car a bit through the corners and it felt like I could have gone even further.

I suppose most modern cars are like this, but you wouldn't have thought a Hyundai was capable of it. This is most definitely the car that can and will push Hyundai from their current position up into the levels of similar sized Japanese and European built vehicles (3 / Golf / Corolla). It's definitely better than the Astra (which I didn't even consider).

PS. posted this elsewhere too ;)

Great stuff.

The other forum still has a Hyundai stigma to it.  You have basically said what I feel this car is about.

It is so far one of the rare occasions where it's too good to be true is not valid.  It truly is a good car and it is a good price.  Why would you pay for the same features etc in a car twice the price ?

Recent Mazda 3 TV adds boast ipod connectivity.  The i30 has that and more and way less $$$ and IMO a much better car.
