Dr Web has been the only AV I've ever recommended and installed on friends and family members android phones for the last 5-6 years and not one has ever been infected, much simpler and lighter than any other phone AV out there and it's free

Anti-Virus programs are totally unnecessary on Apple phones

I tried Dr Web Lookout but when it got to the "create account" screen it said my email address was already in use, so when I clicked the "forgotten password" link it said no such email address.

The free version looks a little too light for my liking

The Light version is not enough to protect from all types of malware for mobile devices.

Yes the free version is anti-virus only which I've found is quite adequate, there are more complex offers out there like Avast Avast Free Mobile Security | Antivirus & Anti-Theft App for Android mobile & tablet if you want something more complete.
