I noticed the other day on my (  GD i30 petrol 2014 automatic ) that the shift lock button on the shift consul was raised up with two springs showing ,obviously protruding to far. I pushed it down and it  clicked in.It now seems okay for now. Maybe it was not situated in right from new. I wondered if any one else has had a similar problem.

      Caloundra, Queensland.
Didn't someone have a problem recently with one springing (did you see what I did there?) out onto the floor.
And the replacement did the same thing.

Yes it was Cheeto Jan 7th 2015. Never heard if it was fixed after the replacement one. And yes I did see what you did there. :snigger:

Can't see the point of this button, they should replace it with either a sport's or winter button, my other auto had both and they came in useful

It's very useful. I use it a lot so I can have vehicles in neutral and ignition off so battery doesn't go flat.
Other good point is being able to move vehicle safely in event of lost keys (no skull dragging onto towtrucks) or in smart key vehicles brake light switch failures before replacement campaign.

Ive just spread the two retaining clips apart so to seem square  use two medium flat blade screwdrivers as a jig and apply some heat via a heat gun on low.  Then re fit..

Do not use too much heat as the paint will deform.
