I'm thinking of changing to the i30 Style 1.6 CRDi on the Motability scheme. I currently have the Mazda 3TS and would like to stick with Mazda but neither Motability or Mazda can say whether the 3 will be on the scheme when rates change at the start of July. (currently not listed)
I don't want to delay choosing much longer as the contract runs out mid August and I could have a wait for delivery

Any recommends re the i30

Yup. Go for an i30 :D

The Style or even Comfort will please you enormously. Then again, coming from a member of the i30ownersclub, I would say that.

Take a test drive and see. Then come back here and grovel for not believing beforehand :P

Hi there and welcome

Give the i30 a go, you will be very impressed when comparing to your current Mazda 3, that I am sure.
I think your dealer will be SG(Stevie) Petch and from what I have seen from his website he often has good deals on the cars and accessories so good luck!

Are you actually in Durham?  I have a good friend in Shotton and we visit on a fairly regular basis.

Cheers
Brian

Thanks for the replies lads.

Yup, from Durham City, COUNTY DURHAM, not that fictitious Tyne & Wear place, although originally from Wakefield (of the once famous Trinity) in the West Riding of Yorkshire. Have lived here since 1972 and am now just about accepted

Booked a test drive for Thursday although the dealer has only the 1.4 i30 as a demo.
Also does anyone have an opinion on the clutch of the 1.6 CRDi - heavy/light etc, as I've recently had a left replacement knee (2nd in 13 months)

Prior to having the Mazda I had a Chevrolet Lacetti 1.6 petrol. I had so much trouble with it in the 12 months (erratic running, very poor mileage; average about 25mpg, couldn't give a fig attitude of the dealer (GMD, Durham) service manager) that Motability gave me the option of terminating the agreement...they didn't need to ask me twice

Icelandic??  I'm still solvent  :D

Cheers

Forgot to say that my current car is through S.G. Petch, excellent service the one time I needed them. Lost all the engine oil on the journey back from Alnwick 2 days before last Christmas. Up and running by Christmas Eve.

Changed avator to save any confusion
Solvent? meens I've no red figures on my bank statement :)

Cheers

Chub club, trying to start a splinter group, Shambles.

The Chub is a fish, not to be confused with some chubby groups found on the net  Although my wife often says the CSG (and our weekend get togethers) is a front for a group of weirdos

Clutch light on mine 1.6CRDI . I'm sure you will be impressed. I think the diesel is much better than petrol version, so bear this in mind on your test drive.

Thanks Sparki/all

Ordered the 1.6 CRDi 'Style' today after a longer than expected test drive; Craig from S.G. Petch 'phoned my wife asking where I was :)
The 1.4 petrol I tested was a little lacking in power pulling away in top, other than that I was really impressed. I'm really looking forward to getting the 1.6 diesel.
The clutch was no problem, even for my knocking new knee. Roll on 28th August.

Cheers

Excellent news W1 :D

The diesel has absolutely no problem pulling away from 60 to 80 mph in 5th gear... that takes about 5 seconds

Received the Motability paperwork 1st July which confirms the nil advance payment. Checked on the Motability web site and the i30 CRDi Style now carries an advance payment; also the Mazda3 is not listed so I'm pleased I didn't wait for the new list to be published.

"D" Day today :D 11-00 am to be precise.

Just tried starting the Mazda 3 and the $loody battery is flat :'( It's just 3 years to almost the hour since I collected this car and this happens  :-[

The high-level Rainbow and Deep Purple music blasting out yesterday whilst I cleaned up the old girl must have taken its toll  8)

Presumably the scheme is some kind of lease then, an you have to return the car cleaned up and ready for auction?
