Hello everyone,

I'm looking to buy an i30 and I've been offered a good deal for a nearly new 1.4 diesel. But, I do quite a lot of motorway driving (about 70 miles a day) and I'm worried it's not a big enough engine. What do you think? Your considerable expertise would be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome Peter,

We don't get the 1.4 Diesel in Australia (only the 1.6), but Hyundai makes a very strong, well performing and economical diesel motor. They have been making diesel motors for their heavy machinery and ships  for many years. I would take it for a good test drive, but am sure you will find it adequate unless you tow a caravan or boat or something where the the 1.6 would be a better choice.

Hi peter555

 :wttc:

I don't see why you can't use the 1,4 CRDi for motorway driving unless you are planning to do 160 km/h all the time.

Here's some data on the 1,4 CRDi:

66 kW (90 HP)  @ 4000
220 Nm @ 1500
Compression 17,0:1
Bore 74,0 mm
Stroke 79,0 mm
