Why's that?

the danger of container failure with or without an ignition source is just too high. To keep hydrogen as a gas, means using a low pressure storage vessel, eliminating any oxygen in that vessel,

Isn't this the same for all flammable gases and liquified gases (and liquids for that matter)?
 

Hydrogen is extremely volatile, more so than other gasses. The flame front of Hydrogen is measured at 4 metres / second compared to other gasses at 0.5 metres / second. This is due to the rapid combination of Hydrogen & available Oxygen.

Whilst it may be more explosive than some gases, it's ability to burn (or to explode) is based on its LEL/UEL properties.

The stoichiometric ratio provides an explosive mix.

Eh? That just means that the air fuel ratio is perfect for complete combustion. Same for anything that burns.

In any case, H2 can't be discounted in future developments for alternative energies. If there are fears that domestic use may cause widespread immolation then standards and regulations need to be formulated to meet these concerns.

Where I work we use a lot of hydrogen. Until recently BOC gases used to remove our hydrogen cylinder trailer, take it away, refill and return it. Now, a new supplier turns up and we have to decant the stuff from the tanker into our local storage.

People are a bit concerned about the safety aspect of it, especially the first lot of guys who had the job of reviewing the supplier instructions on decanting, then when the truck turned up, to actually carry them out.

Funny too, that the procedure suggests doing it "out of hours" to which we've countered, "if it's safe then we can do it "during business hours" and to set up an area for spectators to watch, complete with soccer style flares...

I believe Honda was selling a fuel cell vehicle in the US called the Clarity.
Zero emissions hydrogen fuel cell technology, family sized sedan with comparable mileage to a petrol fuelled vehicle.
Never been a fan of battery storage, not when one considers the complete energy cycle during manufacture.
When I lived on our yacht, the solar panels had our battery storage at max capacity by smoko every day. From then on it was useless.
So I dreamed up a hydrogen system.
We were sitting in a huge saline solution just needed some DC and we'd be producing hydrogen and oxygen, OR the easy combination, brown gas HOH.
A compressor, some storage cylinders and we'd have fuel for cooking as well as powering the engine.
Fuel cell technology was still only for NASA back then but today ??????
Hydrogen molecules are so small they'll pass between the molecules of iron etc so any long term storage system has to be pretty trick. 
That was 25 years ago and yet we're still talking about storage batteries.
Has to be something better around the corner.

He He, received my latest bill. Last bill, credit $16.87, this bill, charge $58.00 and according to houses in our near vicinity, we are a 0 member household using 822 kw in 89 days. 1 member house = 1148, 2= 1468 etc.

3 people live in our house. We are fully LED lighting, induction hotplates and LP gas heating. Considering we only have a 1.5 kw Solar, I'm very pleased.
