Hi i30 owners,

I am a new owner of a Hyundai i30 and am trying to take advantage of the i30's auto-locking of the vehicle's doors at 40 km/h and automatic unlocking when the ignition key is removed. The manual indicates that it is enabled by a dealer. When I took my car for its 1000 km service, I requested to have these enabled. They were not. I'm not keen on having the vehicle back just to get this turned on. Is there any way a user can enable these features?

Welcome mvjs.. Don't think there would be any way a user could enable that feature...

You might like to search the site for discussions on the HALO system if the search is working after our major crash...

As there are some who have found the Auto Locking not that good for various reasons...

I didn't originally have this feature on my UK model, but had it enabled when I first visited the dealership. It is quite useful and only took them 5 minutes.

The dealer referred to it as the "speedlock" system. As Dazz says I don't think you can do this yourself

Welcome mvjs,

The manual indicates that it is enabled by a dealer.  Is there any way a user can enable these features?

The straight answer is ---- NO.

The car needs to link into HY's software on their gizmos.

Sorry, as far as I'm aware it is not a home fix.

As others have said, HALO (the feature you are talking about) can only be enabled by a dealer. The system is not turned on when the car is built but it is part of the Pre-Delivery inspection to activate it. Many dealers don't however, and I have a suspicion that some dealers might not know how...

It's not hard though if the dealer has the new Global Diagnostic System (GDS). Note that HALO cannot be enabled by the earlier diagnostic tools such as Hy-Scan, at least I don't know how to do it.

If you really want it enabled, you should ask the dealer again to do it. As Dazz suggested though, have a bit of a read of other people's experiences with HALO. I certainly don't have it enabled on my car.

Welcome to the club and congrats on your new car!
