possible rust area fd's

so the other day I took the plastics off dr m inside the front wheel arches on my 09 Sox and there is a cavity behind the plastics at the bottom where a mud guard would go. This cavity was full of decomposing leaves. I would think that this can cause RUST however I found none.
Worth checking if you have this model.

I had the same issue with my XD Elantra, where the drain for the windscreen must collect debris in this area.

I didnt know it was an issue on the FD as well. Ill have to check mine when I do its service
