When I book for its service I'll ask what is included for the 20k service.

The schedule I scanned and posted was from my 1st service last year. Did you get one tagged onto your invoice from Sep 2008? Not to worry. They did change the service interval since you bought yours but as to why... heaven only knows

No

The reason I said the fuel filter gets changed was when I was last in the dealers the chap said:

"Year 2 is a biggy and cost megga bucks ££££££. All fluids and filters are changed"

so I took that to include the Fuel filter.

I find out next month.

Well.

Lights been flicking on/off intermittently over past weeks since the service.
(Garage emptied any water in fuel filter tank at the service)

Today I had a new sensor fitted to the fuel filter so lets see if this cures the problem

Update to follow next week.

My service book clearly states Fuel filter at 60,000km or 4 years whichever comes first so I'm only doing the Fuel filter at the 45,000 (did the Air filter at 30,000 as per book)

Only for diesel cars not petrol.
The symbol represents the filter.
Without going out to check, it is on the left of centre on the speedo dial

A couple of weeks ago my fuel filter warning light started to come on every now and then, it lit a few seconds at a time while driving. The filter was changed two months ago in the 40,000 km service. Now the light doesn't lit at all when the ignition is turned on. Electronic failure? Service time on monday.

ANow the light doesn't lit at all when the ignition is turned on.

Just before you put it in check that the leads are stiil connected or the fuse hasn't blown.

Replacing the filter is possible, but if you have a bad batch of fuel or it is the result of 2 years worth of fluid build up in your tank, isn't it possible that the filter gets replaced then more fluid sets off the light again. Also my understanding is that there is a sensor and wire which screw into the housing at the bottom, If that were removed and a suitable container placed underneath wouldn't the water drain off either by gravity or turn ign on briefly and purge that way.

I had this exact same problem! Car had only done 2000km and we were driving a fair way away for the Christmas break.
Fuel light came on, and car limited itself to 3000 rpm, which was okay for the highway driving we were doing - but totally freaked me out as I wasn't expecting our brand new car to have problems.

My father-in-law drained the filter and it was a-ok for a while, but now the light is coming on intermittently, and without the RPM limit.

I just called my service department, and he said not to worry about bringing the car in until the next service (7500km) and mentioned that its been happening a lot quite recently as the fuel is crap.

So I am hoping that its not doing any damage having a little bit of water in the filter... Wish it was an easy job to do yourself...

Hi Nancy... it may be worth you reading this very old thread... in case the problem is more than dirty fuel
