Yesterday I decided to change the brake & clutch fluid. No problem doing that job, but at the last wheel, the left rear, the bleed screw was leaking from the opening in the screw, not around the threads. Well, I bought a new bleed screw today, but after bleeding, the new screw was still leaking...  :disapp:

Now I need to have a new pair of calibers which will cost me around 240 EUR / 350 AUD...  :'(

Have never experienced that before, but glad it happened now rather than a week later. On Friday we are going on vacation towing the caravan to Austria & Italy  :happydance:

You were lucky to find that when you did.

Wonder how long it had been seeping?

  • Phil her up!
Sorry to hear! Isn't there a way to remedy it without replacing the entire caliper?

I'm guessing there's a split or a crack (minute) in the surface where the bleed screw seals, so that would be a throwaway job.
Hopefully Asterix can inspect it closely after removal and cleaning.

Unusual one.

Sounds like the nipple isnt seating well in the caliper. Maybe a bit of corrosion has formed on the seat. Unfortunately not alot can be done easily in this situation. Better to be safe than sorry though.

My thoughts exactly.

Calipers replaced and no more leaking.  :happydance:   Wont be cleaning the old ones as the new ones are refurbished calipers and hence I need to deliver the old ones back. However there was some rust in the seat so I suspect this to be the reason.

Must have just happened. Yesterday I could feel the brake pedal not holding the pressure, I hadn't noticed before.
