The i30 just won by a considerable margin the cheapest small car to run award (as assessed by the RACV). The Diesel just pipping the petrol by a whole 50 cents a week!

For some reason most of the cars in the comparison were autos (except one manual i think?)

See PDF attached... Someone posted the link on H-F but it was a bit confusing so I went to the RACV site....

Cheers,

Dazz

P.S. Hyundai also won cheapest car to operate overall with the Getz for the 2nd year in a row. (They class the Getz as a light car)

Drat, boo and other bad words.

This morning Australia's Channel 7 Breakfast show "Sunrise" also did a piece on the cheapest cars to run. Hyundais cored tops in the two smaller classes. The Getz and i30 as the cheapest to own and run were right at the top of the list. As if
WE needed to be told!!

Now the sales will rise and skinflints like me will not be able to get the good prices paid by Saint in Brisbane.

Some of us would have liked to keep the incredible value of the i30 a secret for a bit longer.

Hadn't thought of using a stamp for an avatar - very clever (is that what a bunyip looks like?)   You could always buy from the same dealer as Saint (and drive it home) you'd still be ahead...

Sounds like there might be a black one going cheap...

Cars Guide car of the year :!:

5 year unlimited Kilometer Warranty :?:

I'm feeling kinda smug at the moment.  We picked up a new Getz in Dec 2007 when we ordered our i30, so we have both in our garage.  Both recognised as the cheapest cars to run and both with a 5 year warranty.

Shame they didn't report on the manual CRDi - I'd like to see how they thought it compared vs the Prius...

Great deal you got Saint, I was quite happy with my deal until I saw yours.  :)

I'm sure you'll enjoy it when it arrives.

Hi Saint,

Thanks for the dealer Details. They just might come in handy.

Hi d_d,

The stamp image of a Bun-yip (original spelling) seemed the best choice rather than the cartoon versions drawn for children's storybooks.  An Aboriginal artists work seemed appropriate for an Aboriginal Monster. You will just have to guess what kind of Monster I might be. Neither the Bun-yip or I have yet been found in the Fossil record.

Just called them.  $30099 on the road for SLX diesel with protectz pack.  Might be more if Hyundai charges them for the cruise control now that it is standard.
