Hi all,

This morning I started getting an annoying continuous clicking sound coming specifically from the right side mirror. I think it happened when I accidentally depressed the fold in button and since then it's just click click clicking away, even when I turn off the engine. Anyone been through this? Its a 2009 model.

Manually move the glass a little bit. It sounds like it's hung up at the end of its travel.

Tried that. Even folding in the mirror a few time. Still that darn sound

Do you think it is the glass or the auto folding mirror if fitted?

Right, so as the mirror power is cut without the key in the barrel it's for sure the folder motor.

I'm sure you've tried everything possible, including pushing the fold button in then gently (manually) folding the mirror yourself. Course you have...

It sounds like it could be the folding motor not finding its end point and just keeps going. I think either way you are going to be up for a new mirror.

Don't think it will make any difference, but with the mirrors in the unfolded position (or what should be unfolded), fold the mirror forwards (e.g. towards the front - mirror glass facing outwards; as if someone travelling the same direction went past and clipped it.).  Something to try, but it probably isn't going to solve it.

I have no idea which one, or what other functions would be on it, but if you can't get it seen to quickly then you might want to pull the fuse for it when parked... so not to discharge the battery. Unless it doesn't happened when car is locked

Regards how to replace... There are two sticky topics in EXTERIOR that may help.  It may also help as an alternative to removing fuse - disconnecting the wiring in door instead...  see second sticky topic.

Update!! So I opened up the mirror and the black part that houses the motor I lifted and that stopped the noise. But the mirror isn't folding though, at all. So  yeah. I can still move the mirror though

Bugger!  Sounds like you will have to replace it, at least longer term if you want the folding ability.  Maybe you can get the part new from Hyundai (though that might be expensive), maybe via. a wrecker (but I don't know how popular the i30 is where you are... the more popular the more likely hood to find parts) or possibly via. ebay or something.
