One of the most annoying things I've found with my  SLX is the lack of Mute function on the steering wheel radio controls. I'm on the road all day and often take 20+ phone calls a day, so a steering wheel controlled  mute function is vital - reaching for the radio switch on the dash is not always easy.. Fortunately I've discovered that pressing and holding the Mode button on the steering controls, turns off the radio.. then a single press of the mode button again and it will turn back on.  Nice.. in fact - sometimes even better than Mute .. why ? well when you are listening to an 8gb USB key full of MP3's and your favorite song comes on, AND the phone rings - simply press and hold Mode - radio off.. then after the call - press Mode and the song continues form where it stopped - unlike mute which will just keep on playing thru yr phone call .. I'm getting used to it..  I've not seen anyone else mention this .. and I can't see any reference to it in the manual...  have I discovered something here or does everyone already know about it..?

Hi Foxey...

I found out about this only a week or so ago. I figured if mode button on wheel turned radio on might also turn it off (and you're right it does)

I don't take many calls on the road but that is where I find it the handiest too...

Cheers,

Dazz

First time I've heard of that function. Sounds well useful. Nice

Thanks from me too Foxey - Now I'll have to try not to forget to use it! Really useful function mate - no more  taking the hands off the wheel  :)

I found that if you are listening to the radio, turn it off then on, the radio comes back on. But if you are listening to the CD when you turn it off and then on, it goes to AUX not CD.
