Google has criticised the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in California for insisting driverless cars must have a fully licensed driver behind the wheel.

Google said its vehicles had been involved in only 16 minor incidents during six years of testing, with humans in other cars to blame.

apparently the issue seems to be that the driverless cars obey the rules of the road, slowing down if a pedestrian looks like they wish to cross the road, obeying speed limits etc and generally adhering to the driving style of a very old or very new driver.
The minor accidents were cause by other drivers rear ending the driverless ones !!
I suppose when we are all being driven by driverless vehicles, they will all obey the same rotr, so accidents will be significantly reduced.
Bring it on ...
