Hi, I bought my first newer car in December, a 2014 i30 Tourer CRDI 1.6L 110hp M6 with just 4600km on the odo, one previous owner and two years since it left the factory, to the day. I just moved out to the boonies and needed a reliable car, my -01 Volvo S80 seems to always have some issue or another that needs resolving and 320k km on the odo. The moved netted me a daily commute of 110km, so I am estimating >30k km/y.
I'm off to a good start anyway, done ~2600km since purchase, 5l/100km on studded winter tyres. It was -25c here this morning so I headed out to see how well it would do a ice cold start. Glow wire indicator lit for 17 sec and the i30 proceeded to started on first rotation! Impressive, was one of my main worries buying a diesel(they generally don't like sub -20c).
The only negative so far is the lights, get lots of night time drives up 59th parallel north, especially since i work shifts. Replaced the bulbs for high light ones, high beams are still on the weak side so I am probably going to convert them to 50w xenon, I would rather not have a array of extras on the grill.
That and the road noise, though its not much worse than the much heavier Volvo, and it probably has more to do with our rough Swedish roads and the studded tires, not had a chance to drive on the summer tires yet.
Did some searching around and this seems like the best place i could find for sharing information.
And a picture, I always seem to end up with colours that show dirt real well, although the ice on the bodywork sure doesn't help.
