Hello Everyone

Our 2010 i30 (Premium) 1.6CRDi is now out off Warranty, and in a few months time we will need to get the car serviced.
But we do not want to use Hyundai Service centre, (we were not happy with their attitude and lack of care towards our car last year).
Any suggestion or advice for annual service, in UK (Australia would be a little too far to drive for a service ).
I am in the West London area, so any recommendations/advice would be very much appreciated.

Kindest regards to you all

Rogmur

Hello Rogmur

You don't actually need to use a Hyundai service centre even within the 5 year warranty period, provided that whoever services the vehicle does so to the manufacturer's service schedule. But that's not really relevant to your case.

I'd look for recommendations from family/friends/colleagues for independent garages that they're happy with and ensure when getting prices that they are giving you a quote (not an estimate, which can change) and check whether their price includes VAT. I'd ignore online ratings and instead visit the garage in question - I've been told a workshop that looks organised is generally a good sign.

My shiny red one is the same age as yours except mine petrol....  I was therefor presented with the same problem.

I finished up at a local ATS place they did the MOT and a basic service for £200 which was just fine by me.

Had I known about the not using Hy during warranty I would have used them all along as they say the use recommended equal products ???

Ya pays yer money, ya takes yer choice.    :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

I took my 2010 petrol i30 into the Hyundai centre for service yet again. I had an outstanding recall for a possible steering fault so that was done at the same time, plus I wanted my spare key to work properly again - they had to change the ECU on previous service and only one key got programmed.

The service itself was £276, which was for the 'gold' service. They do a basic and a medium service as well, which are obviously cheaper. I may not have it serviced at all next year, just put it in at my nearby ATS for an MOT.

Hyundai 5 Year Plus Base Service - Petrol   £86.48  plus VAT

Hyundai 5 Year Plus Interim Service - Petrol  £132.00  plus VAT

Hyundai 5 Year Plus Full Service - Petrol  £239.18 plus VAT

Obviously this is no help in your case as I live nowhere near you. :)

2014 service (the fourth) was a 'big' one and cost £289 inc VAT excluding £35 MOT. Middling service last year was £133 inc VAT excluding £35 MOT.

Hi Chaps

Many thanks for all of your helpful suggestions, I will shop around
and hopefully find a decent Mechanic/Service Centre.
When I do, (and providing they check out ok) I will let this Forum know.

Thank you all again for your help.

Kindest wishes

Roger the Dodger

What? No that's really me in the pic.

Catweazle was no doubt made for kids but I watched it when I was about 20 and liked it very much. It tickled my sense of humour. :)

1.6 Diesel has a lifetime chain. So timing belt not required.
