Bill Tuckey was a giant among motoring journalists, from an era when they weren't afraid to speak their minds.
I have three great memories of him.
The first is as creator of the world's first Car of the Year award at Wheels Magazine in 1964 (it was the Renault R8 if you're wondering.
Second is the zany road tests done by his alter ego, Romsey Quints.
And finally, his book (one of many), entitled "The Rise and Fall of Peter Brock" If you only read one motoring book in your life, this should be it.
