Hi everyone. pretty new to this forum and first thread started.

I've done a bit of a search but hard to find what I want so I'm looking for any feedback or suggestions especially from the Aussies on getting all the codes for my vehicle.

the other thing I'm curious about is what exactly is supplied with these new code wise?

I've got my self a cheap 2008 CRDi SLX Auto  with about 180K on the clock and loving it. The old fella purchased one new in 09 and I've wanted one since.

So I got this with just one flip key remote, no spare. When new did these have say 2 remotes and a service key or what supplied?

I've got all the books, service history but nowhere to be found are any codes.

I sent an enquiry off to Hyundai Australia requesting the codes for my car.

Their response ".........You would need to present the vehicle to your closest dealership along with proof of ownership and they would then be able to retrieve these codes for you.............."

So yesterday I head off to my local dealer as yet another internal door handle broke($75 chrome) and thought it was a good time to visit the service department.

There I was told they don't give that information out.  Pretty surprised at that and not happy I pointed out I'd already been in contact with Hyundai and hence my request.

I was told they've had people split up and one  party tries to get a key to get the car? Whatever, I turn up with a  key, and the car , ID, rego papers etc and he still did not want to play ball unless I could produce what I said Hyundai had stated,, which I did eventually.

They were surprised because they were told not to give these out.

So I forwarded the copy and I've been told now they have to go bak to Hyundai for some of the codes?

Also I was told noone keeps the radio codes except the selling dealer and the radio  would have to come out to get the code?

I've read that the radio code is calculated from the last 4 digits and some arithmetic ?

So if anyone would like to share anything they know or experiences please chime in.

I did say to the service guy I wanted these so I could get keys other than from Hyundai as I don't feel like paying over $450 for the flip or over $200 for a basic transponder key(no remote) I was also  upfront with Hyundai stating I wanted it for cutting keys and programming.

Can't help but feel the dealers like extorting large amounts for keys. Never struck this before with other cars I've had . :crazy1:

On the bright side he did check for outstanding campaigns and found the brake switch/ESP issue so he's offered to do that for me.

I'm hoping this will get sorted and it's just a storm in a tea cup.

Welcome tw and congrats on becoming a CRDi owner. Yes, the very early i30's were only supplied with 1 remote key and unless you jumped up and down (or asked very forcefully) it was hard to get a 2nd one. A few of us did though... :D

The good news is that one of our members recently found an ebay link to get programmed and cut keys for around $155. I'll try and find the link and aďd it later.

Your 2008 won't have a code for the stereo.

On the FD-01 head unit requires a code. This is the Bluetooth unit found in the mid 2010 onwards FD models

Don't know about the stereo, and not familiar with how Hyundai does the key/immobiliser programming, but on a VW you need to get a new code every time you want to program the keys so handing out the code to the costumer won't do any good anyway.

I am presuming it has one. the Dealer seemed pretty keen to charge me $60. Would have been interesting.

manual could be  a good place too.

Well I'm still learning but from what i read it's 6 digits and calculated from the VIN. This would give you access to login and then pair new keys.

Don't have a lot of experience but in an old Astra all that info same on a card, Radio, key cut and pin for the ECU/Immobo programming.

very handy if you can get an interface. Allowed me to match remotes, program transponders and match up ECUs.

something tells me not to hold my breath in getting these.

heard nothing and no response to my emails.

Maybe the guy at Hyundai Australia got it wrong but the Dealer is not playing ball even though they said they would get them

You mean this one?

:link: Genuine Hyundai I30 Elantra Remote Flip KEY Includes Cutting AND PIN Code | eBay

Also found this one in Brisbane, more expensive at $220

:link: Hyundai I30 Remote Control Transponder KEY Programming Available Brisbane | eBay
94% is getting low for feedback.

The Brissy one, says they need the security code. They don't come in the books and Dealer already said they don't give it.

Bit of a nuisance. Seems like cloning may  be the way forward.

After a bit of toing and froing I got the codes from the dealer after producing an email from Hyundai Australia.

Ironically I got the poops with it and whilst waiting  I found somewhere that could do VIN to PIN .

The if it sounds to good to be true concept was ringing in my head. Anyway I got the key cut code and immobo pin from there and from the dealer.

100% match.

Is the somewhere a physical place or a website?   I agree with the 'too good to be true' concept - so nice to know they match.

It may do - I and some others (inc. @elantraelite) fitted FD-01 head-units into our i30s which were models that didn't have it.

Taken from @elantraelite posting :link: here - this is what the front of one looks like http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y136/elantraelite/image1_zps59597ba1.jpeg

As mentioned, of the AU available OEM headunits for FD models, only the FD-01 requires a pin-code (the others PA-710 and PA-760 do not).   The pin-code is derived from the serial number on the head-unit.  And as it is unlikely they would have it on record against your car - being it wouldn't be factory fitted and they would have to remove the headunit (and fascia to do so) to read it.

If it is an FD-01 then the good news is you can work out your pin using info on this site... :link: Reset radio security? (there is another couple of messages where this is listed - but first I came to today) and to get the head-unit out and in to read serial number :link: HOW TO: FD Body - Remove/Replace/Swap OEM (2DIN) headunit

FD-01 user manual links can be found here: :link: FD-01 User Manual
