A friend who has a 3 yo i30 rang me earlier as he has a flat tyre but can't remove the wheel.

He pumped it up but there is a hole in the tyre and you can feel the air escaping.

Lucky he was at home so i went round to have a look.

Wheel nuts off and wheel off the ground the wheel seems to be fused to the hub.

i tried a few things like rocking the tyre/wheel,hitting the tyre/wheel with a rubber mallet but with it being alloy didn't give it a full on hit.
Also, as on the jack was concerned it may jump the jack.

It is not going to move!

Anyway as he gets hy care i told him to give them a ring and ask them to send a breakdown guy.

I'll update when he lets me know the outcome.

Anyone got any ideas how to remove and we'll see how it compares to what actually happens.

Update

Just had phone call.

Hy care came up trumps and no cost to him.

He phoned them and had breakdown chap at his house within 30 minutes.

Couldn't get wheel off doing what i tried so got a block of wood from his van.  Laid on the floor and under the front of the car, with wood across the wheel managed to get enough force on the wood from a hammer and after some time, 5 mins managed to free the wheel from the hub.

I considered doing that but was concerned the car might come off the jack.

Anyway spacesaver on.

Some of those factory alloys are very hard to remove, I remember one night where some thieves tried to steal the wheels of my Holden VY SS ute...they got the nuts off and the rear end jacked up but they weren't able to get the wheels off the hub :D

A good strong thump to the left and right ( front and rear ) sides of the wheel should crack them free.

Breakdown guy took a bit of a risk! Should have put extra support under car 1st!

That was why i didn't do it as i had vision of car wheel off, jack dislodged and car on ground sitting on its brake disc with no means of raising car up to put spare on.

No way should the guy have got under it without a backup support!

I'd like to think he had some form of support under there but it hasn't transferred in the retelling.

From what i was told in the phone call i would be 100% he did not have any other support otherwise i'm sure that would have been mentioned.
Just the jack from the boot holding the car

If you were a betting man, you could probably get away with it 99% of the time....it's that other 1% that is a b&tch!
