  • 2021 KIA Niro 3 1.6 Petrol Hybrid
I am being teased by the thought of getting a KIA Niro next spring. It is the KIA version of the new Hyundai Hybrid and Electric chassis and drive train.

I found a download for the Owners Manual on an Australian web site.

It just might interest some who wish to anticipate what the Hyundai Ioniq features may be.

Awesome thanks Alan! The Niro/Ioniq are close to my ideal next car... Economical with better access and visibility and also with reasonable boot space.  :victory:

The Ioniq may be too low for me - we both have been spoiled by the room and high seating position in the Venga.

Oh interesting Alan, I assumed they would be quite similar in that regard. I prefer the styling of the Ioniq but the Niro might be more practical for me/us...

Wonder how much?

You would hold out for the Kia and the extra 2 years of warranty wouldnt you?

Plus I would most likely get a better trade in from the Ford/Kia dealer than from Motors Holden/Hyundai... They are shockers for trade prices.

Alan, keep an eye on things perhaps before next Spring!

News from my Kia dealer is that the Niro is proving a little hard to sell and has so far come up way short of estimates - probably means that deals are to be had...

That is interesting. Might scare them off releasing it on the Aussie market...  :Pout:

I love Hybrids, it is a shame so many are scared by the technology.

The economy and torque of a diesel with even better refinement and NVH levels than a petrol (in most circumstances)  :head_butt:

Brian

The opinion seems to vary from dealer to dealer. I went to have a look at one today and organise a test drive on 20th when I get back from holiday. I was told that the wait for any colour except flat white was 10 to 12 weeks - especially for the Niro 2 which they can't make enough of.  They could of course be kidding in the hope of a quick high price order.

If I buy one - it will not be until at least the next reg change.  Superficially it looks a nice well built car with lots of cabin and good luggage space. Two things I don't like are the American style foot operated parking brake and no spare wheel - just a puncture kit. Also the salesman knew less than me about it - especially the sat nav and android auto. The other thing is that the mirrors fold when you turn the ignition off and fold out again when you turn it on. There may well be one - but I did not see a manual over-ride and the salesman hadn't a clue. With my garage I have to fold the mirrors in to get safely in and out of the garage doorway.

The only test car they have is a Niro 3 in Temptation Red - it certainly didn't tempt me. It was shod with low profile Micheling tyres on 18" rims. The salesman reckoned he had managed to get 92 mpg on a 15 mile journey - I laughed at him and told him to take the car into the service dept to be repaired.  He also told me it was the quietest car in the KIA range - I will take my decibel meter with me for the test drive and compare it with my Venga afterwards driving the same route.

Nice car - crap salesman.

Both my Cee'd and Sportage have manual override for the mirrors, it is usually on the same switch, it is 3 way, left switches it off, middle is auto fold and right manual fold, I see no reason to move away from that sensible way of operation....
