I had never consider waxing alloy rims until I read recently that someone did it (it might have been here somewhere), anyway when  I applied NXT technwax to SWMBO's car a few weeks ago I cleaned the rims as usual (a real chore to get them clean) and then I waxed them.

This week they came clean with just a jet of water, I'm very impressed!

Fergie came with a full SupaGard protection pack (cost me around £300) which included full paint protection and interior seal. When I picked her up there was a professional pack on the back seat which included an aerosol of SupaGard alloy wax.

I used this for the first time 2 months ago on my alloys and those on the missus' Rav4.

Washed both cars today and it certainly has helped as you say. Much easier to jet off the brake dust, but getting down on hands and knees I can tell the covering has worn off and I couldn't be bothered reapplying it.

Always seems easy to wash the Hy 16" alloys?
do you boy's have to use the brakes a lot in normal driving?
As i think if you get brake dust or other debris from type of roads you use, would make a difference having a wax finish to stop brake dust and so on sticking. but if it's spray on wax be carefull not to get it on your disc brake rotors.
a friend of mine that lives in the bush and in summer gets lots of dead bugs over front of his car, uses WD40 over front of his car and says removing bugs is easy.

its wipe on wax I was using, wouldn't use a spray down there.

This was on the other half's Peugeot 207 - it's a town car and gets a lot of brake dust.

Its protecting very well. Keep in mind it's a wax/sealer we are talking about though (NXT Tech Wax/Super Gloss protection etc) not abrasive polish.

Also I found some bargain general wax yesterday. Asda are selling bottles of turtlewax spray wax  in a red bottle for £2.50 a bottle. It's about £7 in halfords and is very easy to apply. Also they have a large bundle of microfibre cloths (kent brand) for £3.50

You can do, as long as it's the wax (clear stuff) and not the polish (really white stuff) Actually maybe you could used the polish too if you had really naff rims, but not sure.

I used Meguairs NXT techwax on the OH's car's rims.  The £2.50 turlewax from asda would do, just not last as long.

Never spray onto the rims, always spray onto a cloth and wipe the rims, to keep it off the tyres and brakes.

thanks for that, living at bottom of a valley i do go down hills alot and collect alot of brakedust and iam forever cleaning the rims and if there is an easier way of doing it, then bring it on
