Hi,

Sorry if this is the wrong board to post this to....

I've just purchased a 2010 i30.  It has front sensors but I cannot see how to turn them on! I found the little button on the left of the dash to turn the back ones off (well I assume that's what it does).

Anyone advise me on how to turn the fronts ones on?

Thanks.

Hi there. They should become active when you select reverse. Try it and see :)

The front ones become active when in reverse? Seems novel : )

What I thought was a button to turn them off is not.  I don't know what it does, its located at the bottom of the windscreen pillar with a wire running into the pillar.  When I press it a red lights comes on just below the button - but nothing seems to happen.

Seems as though a previous owner had added a gizmo - it does not seem to be original

My 2012 i30 front sensors were stupid. There were only two sensors, one at each front corner of the car.

They are intended to warn you when reversing from between two cars if you swing the front of the car round too much or too soon.

I finished up having 4 sensors fitted to the car which simply switched on with the ignition. There was a switch wired in so I could turn them off when I wanted to. It worked fine and I have done the same thing on my current car.

This is the little button.

There are four sensors at the front.  One on the left and right of the bumper and one either side of the number plate.

Tried going close to a wall and putting in reverse but no response from the sensprs

So it is an aftermarket addition.

Did you try selecting reverse without pressing that button? On my factory-fitted system the button disables the sensor activity.

I will try that.  Can't remember which way round I did it.

I just read that on the 2010 i30 front sensors were an 'upgrade' and were installed without being integrated and that you got a little button like this. I will have a play around and if no joy ring the dealer tomorrow to ask how it works.
