I'm considering changing from 225/45R17 to 215/50R17 tyres.
My reasons are:
1, higher profile may give a less fidgety bumpy ride
2, narrower tyre section may reduce drag/rolling resistance
3, will make speedo a little more accurate as currently it over reads by about 4%

Thoughts anyone ?

All valid reasons, although I would wear out the old treads or sell them to recover some of the cost of replacement.

... but that's just me.

Yes, true about the sensibleness of wearing them out - but that will takes me a fair while as I only do about 10,000km per year due to now having a company car.
I thinking I might try trading them, or selling them off second hand - they only done 10,000km so should fetch a few $ each.
