I had yet another issue with my ignition key which those nice chaps at Hyundai offered to fix for me for several hundred pounds, which I declined.
The problem was that the knuckle which holds the blade of the key and flips it in and out had started to crack and would very soon snap as it had done with the other key. I did lots of research as it is obvious that there was/is nothing wrong with the fob or the blade. Timpsons also offered to fix it for me but they also wanted to use their own key, fob and anything else, which I again declined.
I bought a Hyundai style fob off the internet for the princely sum of £4,50 including delivery and considered butchering it up and doing my own rebuild but alas with my shaky shaky (early Parkinsons) hands I decided to try a proper locksmith shop just to enquire.
The chap took a look, listened to my problem and said ya want me to strip out all the working parts of the fob and fit them into this new fob then switch the blades over so that you finish up with essentially a new key and fob, I said 'Yes please" He said, 'that'll be a fiver, have a seat"
It actually took a while longer than he anticipated as it was all glued together so insisted he take a tenner and thanked him profusely, I also told him that I would give him a shout out on the car club to which I am a member so here we go.
