Just went outside and was greeted by an unexpected visitor, a 1 metre long Dugite

This is a photo of one about the same size

the one that was on the lawn took of too quick for me to get a photo once Toby realised there was an intruder in his territory.

Toby after his proud moment of protecting the premises :)

My clipping skills aren't the greatest :disapp:

Onya Toby.   :goodjob2:
Toby: 1
Duggie: 0

George caught (and killed) a bobtail a few weeks ago. It was a big bugger too. There was another one but he took off and went home. Widowed.   :(

More so for the dead one but as they mate for life then I'm sad for the widowed one too :blubber:

Yes, they were obviously together.
I thought I might have saved him (or her  :undecided:) because I saw George through the window throwing something up in the air and catching it, so I yelled out and she dropped it straight away.
I went outside and the bobbie had obviously walked around the corner on the verandah where she was sleeping so when she woke up, she's grabbed it and it crapped everywhere. All over the verandah floor and walls.
She took it out on to the lawn so after she dropped it, I sprayed it with a bit of water to wash the blood off and let it lay in the sun (it was a hot day), but although it didn't seem badly injured, it died.  :disapp:
There's no perspective in this pic to compare its size, but it wasn't tiny.

I saw toby catch a rat off the back fence last year and when I told him to drop it he gave it several quick chomps and walked away  I don't mind him killing rats :goodjob:

I don't particularly want him catching snakes though as that wont always end well, luckily the Dugite had an easy exit.

I think your avatass are both excellent. I will give them both a prize if you introduce me when I get over there.

I would go to great lengths to reward them.

The first post is a happy one Phil, the snake made a clean getaway and Toby felt proud that he protected his master :)

You have too many venomous and dangerous creatures there. Seems like every single animal in Australia is meant to kill you, except koalas and kangaroos. And even with the kangaroos you sometimes need to punch them in the face  to save your dog :scared:

A nasty way to go.
Bobtails won't hurt you unless they are cornered or captured. Then they'll give you a bite you won't forget.

Nothing is out to kill  you here sundiz,80% of people who are either injured, Piosoned or die here from the native bush life are the idiots who poke, prod and antaginize the wildlife,I can tell you from experience, you DON"T go near a wild Koala, their far from slow cute and cuddly.

Drop bears  brings back memories of my teenage years and how we used to scare the girls when we out running a muck in the bush at night :D

Yeah the Grey Kangaroos are all nice and sweet until one gets fed up with all the attention and decide he's going to scratch or kick you  though they are pretty timid compared to the big Red's, males are very territorial.

We had a 6ft fence around our old house in Mullewa which usually kept most of them out but a few big males would get over it now and again as they were coming in to get our dog.

Bungarra's (sand goanna) have given me a few scare's, they have a habit of running up the nearest vertical obstacle in open ground and can do some damage if you happen to be that obstacle
