Is the Tesla Model X the ultimate family car?

We put it to the test... and have a play with those doors

Tesla's Model X is electric car maker's push into lucrative luxury SUV market

Pure electric four wheel drive SUV can seat up to seven but costs from £80,000

Fastest Model X, the P100D can hit 60mph from standstill in 2.9 seconds

Like this quote:

One thing that Tesla is keen to point out, however, is that they are not gullwing doors – they are falcon wing.

That's because unlike traditional gullwing doors they are double-hinged, folding both in the centre of the roof and at the top side roof line, which enables them to adjust their opening in a way a traditional gullwing doesn't.

Not going to suit everyone (at that price)

Love to drive a Tesla at some stage just to experience the silent acceleration.. Be like sailing a fast yacht on a windy day.. I did that a few times when I was a young bloke.

Where do you recharge it? how long would that take & how much would recharging its battery cost? also how far can you drive before needing another recharge?

Most of that is in the article or on the web John... You can charge it at home with a normal plug (very slow) with a heavy duty set  up (costs about $5 for 80% overnight charge) or you can use dedicated super chargers which give 80% in 20 minutes apparently. Not sure how much they are going to start charging for them but way less than a tank of fuel.

Range is typically around 400- 500 kms but depends on how hard you drive them.

You seen the service costs on these bad boys?

They don't even have to change oil/filters......

F**k that for a joke... My service cost for the Calais so far after 64,000 kilometres and 30 months... $126 for a GPS update (and that turned out to be a waste of money)
