Hi again.

Sorry for hassling everybody but I'd like your thoughts on this car:
:link: Hyundai I30 5 DOOR 1.6 CRDi Active Blue Drive (110 PS) 5dr

Just spoken to them and they said that they would come down to £7300 at most.
They are a Hyundai dealer and will give 12 months' warranty on top of the remaining Hyundai 12 months.
2 previous owners. Not all services done at a Hyundai garage but always Hyundai parts used, apparently.

P.S. Is there a facility to be notified by email when any replies are posted?

Ah, I see. They've just copied and pasted?

On another subject - I always do a HPI when I am about to buy a car but am surprised at how many times I ask and the dealer will say "Oh we've already done it", to which I reply "You mean you've done it with just the vehicle reg, I want to do a full one with the V5 doc reference number, date of issue, etc" and they say they have but when pressed, they haven't. Why do they do this?
I've just asked the dealer for this care for Chassis number, V5 Date of Issue, V5 Serial number.
He replied with just the chassis number and the V5 serial number but no date of issue. I mean, I know it's no big deal, but I can't tell you how many times this happens.

If so them i'd be concerned as i believe  dealers are monitored by hy uk.

If they get the ad wrong what else may be wrong!

Ps

Yeah I checked that too :victory:

Overall, I'd go for that i30. Looks reasonable enough and the mileage is decent.

Thank you. He has said that he'll come down to £7,300 so maybe we can get him to £7,200 IF it passes the HPI.

I read that and then double checked who posted it   classic  !
Has quite a few down with 1970 .

As for the oil report,  my work has testing done on all our machines when oil is changed  or every
??? kms or engine hours as part of our quality standards.
Generally speaking when something did fail they would say our last of tests showed possible high wear -  wondered how much longer it would go for.

Hi Guys.

Thought I'd update you on the i30:
Good news:
I went to see it today  - it passed the HPI, it was serviced at 17,605, 25,273, 34,338 and 41,404 and the Hyundai dealer say that  the Hyundai warranty lasts until next May.
Unsure news:
Is this noise normal when I unscrew the oil filer cap - http://www.dropbox.com/s/9c7323vf77h4aww/IMG_4549.MOV?dl=0

Please forgive my awkwardness at screwing the cap back on....it's hard with one hand!  ;)

I'm suspecting it is normal. I have owned over 30 cars in 40 years and had probably another 10 work vehicles but never thought to do that while the engine is running!  :undecided: I doubt many others have either...

Hi Buel (do you have one? )

Usually I only do that with used cars checking for any signs of oil smoke.
By removing the cap the PCV is useless and then smoke is blon out. Marvelous how much louder things are as you get to hear the cam chain, valves , etc etc, given a rev PCV will spit out a bit of oil.
Sounded constant without any crunch or squeels or tick-ticks or knocking.
If in any doubt get a pre-purchase inspection or take it to your favorite mechanic.
