Just wondering, how many k's are we getting from the stock tyres that come with the i30?
my car is a sx CRDi, but after 10,000k i got a new set of slx that had no k's and new stock slx tyres. i have now got over 50,000k so the slx tyres ( Kumho ) have 40,000k up still look ok. i keep from 35psi to 40psi in them.
i know Dazz has over 50,000k up but not sure if he has changed tyres? just wondering what the most anyone has got from a set from new. i know when mine wear out i'll replace with Michelin energy tyres.

Hi John.. I'll probably change mine later this month (have 51,000 on them now probably get another 5k if I pushed it) I only run around 34psi in mine...

Still not sure what tyre I'll go for yet...

I had mine changed at 44,000ish, and I don't slow down (much) for corners/roundabouts etc etc

I'm starting to believe my new Hankook Enfren tyres are bringing a benefit in fuel consumption, the instantaneous l/100km on my Scangauge appears to be lower, however my overall averages per tank seem to be higher, which I put down to a/c usage and needing more boot to get the same desired effect in these hotter months........

I might even get a 1100km run on my current tank (normally I break the 1000km but don't bother trying for 1100)

Regards

Daniel

eye30, that don't sound right to me i have never had that problem before myself.

Dazz that is good mileage, i think if you get 55,000k from your original set you will be at the top. i hope to get another 10,000k from mine.

Daniel that is good news, have to keep us up to date on your findings.

this past weekend i did close to 1,000k still on same tank, had three in the car & luggage and was useing CC not worying about economy. i have mostly BP diesel in the tank with 10L of vortex diesel i topped up with and also i used 1/4 bottle of the Chem Tech Diesel power. i've had it over 1 year so thought i would see what happened useing 1/4 bottle. it's been runing nice too. i think Thumper said he once used the whole bottle in a nissan diesel and felt an improvement.

I'm pretty sure on the bottle it says 1ml for every litre is the normal treatment but you can do upto 3x that, but no more. 3x = about 180mls. Abit less than the 250 you've put in. Hopefully it won't cause any problems.

I thought Thumper accidentally put a whole bottle of something into his i30 when it should have only been a small fraction and it didn't behave (on that tank) very well as a result............... But I can't remember for sure.

I'll keep you posted on the figures, I think the other problem is I'm not doing many long runs recently, lots of cold start, short (25km) runs and this has also impacted my economy, the reason why I'm doing better on this tank was due to a run down to my parents place in the Blue Mountains with 2.5 people on board.

Regards

Daniel

Until I matured (about 5 years ago) I struggled to get better than 30000 out of a set of tyres.. The cops being more vigilant with speed cameras might be helping too...

i think it has more to do with compound and make up of tyre also the car and the torque and power output. and tyre pressure wheel alinement. than driving style. but if you were into burnouts that is different, thats just a waiste of a good tyre.
when i drove my v8 ute a lot and drove it over the blue mountains a lot, i used to drive hard around corners, i never had many other cars overtake me , but i was useing goodyear cargo they are a heavy duty low wall flex tyre for carrying weight. i kept 45 to 50psi in them and they lasted 110,000k no wheel alinement the 4 tyres rotated every 15,000k. i had other cars with sports comound tyres last 15,000k but not driving as fast.

I used to rotate every 10 or 15K but drove really hard in and out of corners on some of our windiest roads (unsed to take the longer ways on purpose) only used to get around 30,000 with OEM tyres of all sorts...Havent done wheelies for a long time.. (not as much fun in FWD..)

I got 28,000km & still had about 1mm to the wear line. Couldn't wait until the wear line for my new wheels & tyres. Just going out to get some pics.

Changed the front Hankook Optimo K415 tyres (225 45 17) a month ago they lasted 16500miles. Put the same back on cost £170 the pair.

I just dropped Fergie off at the dealers for a full 37,500m service. Original Kumho tyres still on, measuring around 5mm depth on all 4. Makes a difference to the wear and tear when the journey is 95% motorway :)

Your telling me we have roundabouts galore here !

Other cars we have had have only done 12-14K so quite pleasesd realy.

I've done ~23000kms and am due for a service so will be asking the guys to rotate the tyres. The rear tyres are still great and the fronts, whilst worn, are also still in great condition.
