In time the rubber hardens or deteriorates in other ways too. I guess the only way to know if it is any good would be try one. It wouldn't want to be too expensive as blades aren't that dear.

I don’t reckon it would work as well as new blades but you never know :undecided:
My last blade set lasted 4 years so I’ll stick with that :)

13€.

Over the years, I've developed as simple system fro lengthening the life of wiper blades.
When I wash the car, I also wash the wiper blades. Lift them off the screen and using an old face washer, soaked in detergent, I slide it along the blade rubber.  The washer will come away black, but the blades will wipe the screen efficiently. This method also removes any small pieces of grit stuck on the rubber, before they damage it.
You can use method instead of detergent.

Then, when the blades do need replacing, I never hesitate. One of my pet hates is getting in a car on a rainy night with a smeared and blurry screen.

It costs 12.95 euros with Worldwide free delivery payable by Pay Pal

Cheaper than buying a set of new blades.

Decent set of new blades (aftermarket) don't cost any more than that over here. And as someone said above,  cutting a new edge won't stop the rubber going hard and perishing.

I can well imagine the high temperatures and High UV in Australia gives wiper blades a hard time resulting in hardening.

It is far less so in the UK where good quality blades tend to lose their "edge" rather than harden and crack.

 Im with surfer, clean them , then replace them.
To be honest, I think many current car owners would find this Ecocut device too technical to use.

You haven't cleaned them in over 8 years!

When you replace them don't get diamondbacks.  :snigger:
