Hi guys, apologies for posting in the Club meet section but wanted to contact other owners in Perth. My i30 is due its first 7.5k service. Called a couple of Hyundai main dealers and best price was $260. Phoned my local Toyota garage who previously has done some servicing for us and they quoted $180. E-mailed Hyundai to check servicing at Toyota is OK re warranty and they came back stating that as long as genuine Hyundai parts are used then warranty is unaffected. Has anyone else had their Hyundai serviced elesewhere? Did you have any problems later with warranty claims? Anyone recommend a reasonably priced Hyundai dealer around Welshpool? Thanks in advance for your help.

John Hughes has a service center on Welshpool Rd.  They seem reasonably priced in my ring-around comparisons.  Do you really need the 7.5k service?  They try and con you by putting it on the sticker, but you dont actually need it, only 15k service.  Unless you fit into the hard use category in the manual, I think from memory its 'regular trips less than 3km, gravel roads, courier driver use' etc.

Also - I spend the extra and go to a proper Hyundai dealer, just for peace of mind.  If you have a warranty issue down the track, they have no way to weasel out of it if you use a genuine dealer.  If say you have a problem with the engine, they can turn around and say that the Toyota dealer used the wrong oil or something like that.  It will then turn into a sh!tfight.  Also the Toyota dealer wont have access to technical service bulletins or the diagnostic tools the Hyundai dealer would.

Yes JH were the cheapest in my brief check of dealers. Used them before and it was an 'OK' service. Have also used our local Toyota dealer in the hills and had great service and they pick up and deliver back to home address which is handy.
I've checked the service handbook again and agree that it should be OK til 15,000k or 12 months based on the cars' use. Refuse to use the dealer in Midland after he gave me a very poor trade in offer on my old car - walked out when he told me the figure and then he had the cheek to ring me a week later to see if I still wanted to buy an i30. Told him I'd got one after getting $3.5k more in trade in elsewhere.

Yes I had similar dealings with Midland, and Wangara were not much better.  JH always give me the best service, this is the 3rd Hyundai my and the wife have got from there, been good every time.

Be careful using Toyota dealer, make them tell you which oil they are going to use as its very specific which one can be used in the i30 diesel.  Personally I'd pay the extra and go to a Hyundai dealer - but thats just me.

I'm taking my i30 to JH in Welshpool Rd on Wednesday next week.  I think it is about $330 for the 15K/12 month service.  Not that the car has done anywhere near 15K

Sorry for hijacking thread, just useing this as an example of how different brands can have vastly different charges.
a personal friend that has a new Toyota Hi ace van (petrol) got like a clause in his deal, all services for so many years?? are $180 includes service parts & oil. i have a company Toyota the same and toyota dealer charged $350 for the last service and i could see  they were ripping us off for some of the things, they charge for. but costs me nothing just pointing it out. the ford dealer i used to go to was always fair, i took oil and service parts and they were charging $80 and its a V8. other Ford dealers had much higher charges, one dealer had a list, silver service, gold service, diamond service and so on, they started about $300 went up to about $600 the $600 top of the line service included a free gift ( all heart :) ) with fords you always have some small problem to fix . with Hyundai they seem to have a good robust product and stand by it as long as you do as they ask, fare and square.
cheers
