As the title says. Looks like the N Line is pretty much confirmed.
Pricing is going to be the biggest hurdle here. Otherwise options would take it close the the I30N itself.

Who would be interested? Will it only be offered on new cars??

 :welcome: Yeah, I like the slightly revised front with the horizontal DRLS too. I will most likely be offered as a manual and DCT. They haven't been marrying the 1.6T with the torque converter Auto. I doubt they will now. Unfortunately (or fortunately) for existing SR owners I am sure it will be somewhere between the SR and the N in price. There is over 10K between a manual SR and a manual N, so my guess is the N line enhancements would carry maybe a 4K premium.. (similar to what the Prem over base SR does.) I might be wrong, but I seldom admit it.  :snigger:

They might slip the 8 speed box into it, but I reckon it would be easier to stick with the 7 speed DCT.

I'm confused. So this is something between the SR and the current N? I thought they were touting the N as a true performance sports car - wouldn't this dilute the brand?

It is just a marketing exercise. Due to the big reaction to the N they (rightly) see an opportunity to bring in something with a few "N" inspired mods (mostly cosmetic) to boost sales further. If it is priced between the SR and N it shouldn't affect resale of either hopefully.   :cool:

hyundai marries turbo engine with 8-speed torque converted in the US (and so does VW there) if i'm not mistaken... it may be a thing in the US market but i like the smoothness and ease of torque converters and kinda hope they're made available with the turbos in Oz too... although, i have to admit i never tested the hyundai DCT on the SRs so I am not that well informed (from what i read here it is great). i only tried VW DSG and didn't like it (city test drive).

Interesting, though neither of those articles seem to be for the i30, the first link is for rear wheel drive models only and second link is for a larger engine front wheel drive in the Sonata and Tucson.

The N when released with DCT next year is reportedly going to have the 8spd wet DCT so I'd expect a similar match up on the higher end i30 models to improve those fuel economy spec's.

"Randomly" learned that i30 N Line has been released in Korea today (and since i30s for Australia are the Korean-made ones, not Czech-made...). Judging from the short article alone, looks like it's SR, but with N styling. I like.

I have it on good authority the N Line is going to replace the SR in Australia. It loses BSM and Rear  Cross Traffic alert and rear Fog light bit gets a few cosmetic exterior and interior tweaks as per below.  :cool:

Bold move, the SRs have been selling themselves, and getting plenty of praise for level of safety gear too....

I can see the reviews now, no rear cross traffic or blind spot detection.....

The N premium loses a fair bit of kit and gains very little.

It's a shame the SR replacements are losing some safety equipment when most manufacturers are adding more and more.
I wonder who decided what to remove just to keep costs down.

Also, it's about time the manual versions were equipped with this gear too.

The BSD has been a bit troublesome with error messages in the SR, I gather the cross traffic alert might work from the same module, so I'm thinking they see it as a way of reducing the number of warranty calls.

Apparently because the autonomous cruise doesn't work easily with a manual box this is why the manuals don't get the radar behind the grill which I'm guessing controls several of these other features as well.

Personally, I think the new front with the new DRLs may look nicer, but will have to look at the rest of the interior/exterior styling changes in the flesh.

The loss of rear fogs doesn't matter to me, but I really like and use both the blind-spot and rear-cross-traffic systems on my SR. I've had zero problems with them so far.

Overall, if the price ends up going up while losing these, I'd rate it as a step backwards...

I think I'd prefer the new model with all the gimmicks removed, was driving for many years without all these electrical systems to help me drive, heck I don't even use the cruise control I've got as it actually causes higher fuel usage.

If it was possible to get one without electric windows I'd even go for that :)

The rear cross traffic alert is a very handy feature once you've had it. Especially for someone who has reduced neck movement due to a medical condition.   :undecided:

If I didn't have Blind Spot Monitoring I would probably get some of these as recently fitted to a Corolla by a friend. They are adjustable and work very well.

One of the big pluses with the N Line is the better tyres. Michelin Pilot Sport 4's are getting rave reviews. They have to be better than the Kuhmos (Kumhos are not terrible but a bit noisy and I wouldn't call them a premium or performance tyre)

I'm really looking forward to getting the exact same Michelin tyre fitted in the next week or so!  :happydance: I'll post some honest feedback once I've had a play.  :goodjob:

Tyre sales don't mention the extra lettering :confused:

Mine are $235 each less $25 ($100 cash back for four) so hopefully XL :confused:

Here is a pretty good review of the Pilot 4's    Wet & dry running..   They do look like a very good tyre..

The EL or XL markings are just the load rating for the tyre..
Though I can't see any difference between the XL or EL

I reckon they have deleted it so they can give it back in an 'upgrade' about this time next year.

There will probably be enough keen to get into them initally, and they can sell the surpless SRs to those who want it.

Buy a large number of Srs and keep the N-lines a bit scarce and away you go.

The 4S are nice but starting at 19” so they wouldn’t fit which is just as well with the price :)
