I have had my I30 now for 2 months and since about the 2nd week point it has had little rust like dots appear on the paint. Mainly around the rear. Very hard to get off with polish products and it is a mystery as to what they are. About the size of a pin so too small to photograph. The dealer had a look and had little to say other than its where you park but my old car never got them and nothing has changed with where I park and drive. Any ideas? Maybe I need to take to a paint specialist?

Cheers

Do you have a macro function on your camera?  If so perhaps you could take some photos with that and see if that shows better.

Yes, might be worth taking it to a paint specialist ...for an opinion..

Have tried Bumpkin! But it just is too hard to pick up with a camera. Dealer even said I was nit picky! A new car is a new car whether it be $30000 or $80000 but they obviously didn't see it that way.

Thanks Dazzler

Will probably need to go down this path as I want to have my car in as new condition for us long as I can and I hate inperfections. To top it off I collected a stone chip on the drivers door. Bummer!!

That is poor customer service by the dealer (even if they thought that they shouldn't say it to you...)

Bet they were nit picky with your trade in....

Dazzler they were just blunt with the trade in!! That is all your getting not a cent more.

I am happy though and once I get this sorted I will really enjoy Turbo Diesel SR. Well that is how I optioned it up to look

You should be o/k as long as the blemishes aren't coming from under the paint...

An SR diesel is on most peoples wish list...

Yep and a big thanks to great people on this forum prior to my purchase as it helped no end in getting just what I wanted.

Live near a railway line? Maybe it's railway fallout.

Claybar might be needed to clean.

I have the same problem and is very difficult to notice, except under scrutiny.  At first I thought it looked like they had sprayed over rust spots, but I could also see the same type of spots on the plastic bumper covering as well.

In my case it looks like it could be some type of contamination that has got in the paint

Just a thought

I had a problem like that many years ago.  I noticed it and did polish it out, but it appeared again within a couple of days. Then by chance I drove around the corner past some other factory units at work only to find that they were spraying some steelwork outside and the paint mist had carried in the air. Back at work I noticed that every ones car had it on them.
