Hi!

I just got back from my first open-road trip with my new i30 with 1.4DOHC engine.

I have noticed that it turns on high rpm... At speed of 120km/h in fifth gear, its at about 4000rpm. Is this normal???

Before i30 i drove Lada 111 with 1.5l 75bhp engine and Chevrolet Aveo with 1.4l 95bhp engine, and they both were spinning at about 3200rpm at speed of 120km/h in fifth gear...

Hahahah, thanks anyway mate!
By the way, as I can see from your profile pic you have both hatch and cw, are there any performance differences betwean those two, due to lenght and weight differences?

the cw is an automatic and my hatch is a manual, the cw from memory is about 100/120kgs heavier than the hatch.

Can't help you with the question, but I am sure you'll be happy with the car....   I am a new guy on the block and I am absolutely over the moon with my new i30...  I came here from the Toyota stable, I am very glad to be here.

Thanks for reply people.

60 miles per hour is precisely 96.56 kilometers per hour.

I will try tonight to hit exactly 96.56 and see what happens!!!

My 1.4 does 4000 rpm at 80 mph in fifth, which is 128.74 kph, so I suspect yours has a higher gear ratio - or one of us has a duff speedo. :puzzled:

The engine sounds fine at that speed so it doesn't bother me. :)

It's normal for his engine. It's only 1,4. I drove a KIA C`eed with the same engine and you can drive till 160km/h, after that is so ......
I have 1,6 CRDI and it's so different, from 1,4DOHC.

Pozdravi ot Sofia

Diesel engines have lower rpm's, so they can't be compared to petrols...

I remember reading one review of Porsche Cayenne with diesel engine, and they sad that only different thing compared to petrol Cayenne was when you look at rpm's they are like cuted for 1/3. :-)
