Hello all,

The reverse sensors on my i30 recently stopped working. Soon noticed after this that the reverse lights weren't coming on either, so I suspect something has come loose to indicate to the system that the car is in reverse gear.

Can anyone advise on how I might go about repairing this? Something in the gear stick/central console?

TIA!

Dan

Certainly sounds like the gear sensor selector switch whatever it is called haha, is there no beep when putting it into reverse from the dash

12 plate suggests 2012, so a late FD or early GD model. Which is it?
Do you have a manual showing the location of the reverse light switch?
My googling suggests it might be near the gear selection lever on your gearbox housing.

It's early GD. This sensor switch seems to be the root of the problem, but not sure where it is or how to change it... any leads that you know of?

Gonz, as a fellow clairvoyant I too consulted the Google God, who also predicted that it will be a manual car.

Therefore, I can confirm that the switch ( hex screw in, with two terminals) is right beside the shift mechanism on top of the gearbox.
