Picking Mine Up On Monday

Picking our 1.4 Classic up on Monday and saying a tearful goodbye to our Picasso.

We have a FM transmitter for the iPod in the current car and the iPod charges from the in car socket.
I assume this will still work in the i30 and we don't need to buy the "iPod cable" (not that I know what that is!)?

Where are you from Sampain? I recently bought a UK i30 Edition and the iPod cable is thrown in for free. Ask your dealer about this. The impression I got was that this is free with all UK models.

Failing that, I can't see a reason why the FM transmitter wont work, but the iPod cable is much less faff.

Yes, included in the UK. But a memory stick is a good option too.

Other counties can pay circa £100

Yes I am in the UK, so will make sure it's included.

Have also ordered a set of roofbars (steel) as we travel to France very often (that's where I am just back from).

I spoke to my dealer about this as I recently ordered an i30. He told me its standard throughout the UK to throw them in for free.

Thats what I was trying to get at, just saying you get it for no extra cost. 8)

Its something im looking into getting. Its a good height from resting you arm when driving?

It looks different to the ones fitted up until this point as standard on some models, so it may be a little different to what we have. Mine is plenty comfortable for resting the left elbow on. Might be a bit high for our mor petite members.

I got mine three weeks ago now, from the same dealership as rushandy and the iPod cable was in the pack of things which came on the glove box... Although I took lorians advice and went with the USB stick. I imagine the iPod will be controlled from the steering wheel, although not having bothered with it I am spouting uninformed opinion :-(.

I was thinking about getting this option, as I like an arm rest, but I may not bother now after living with the car for a couple of weeks, I'm finding that I'm not missing it too much at present.

I enquired about this at my local dealership. The cost on the Hy website is for the part only. Fitted, they were quoting me £195.00.

Its under £100 and you can fit it yourself they state.

Picked it up and looking very dapper in the red on my drive.
Got the iPod lead.

I have not driven it as I am recovering from a shoulder operation, but after getting used to the low seating position following driving a Citroen Picasso, my wife approves.

Look forward to driving it in a few weeks time.

Thanks for the informstion on the self-fit armrest.
Will give it a few weeks driving before deciding whether to invest.

Who will be driving while you are laid up?

as this will give you the incentive to recover quickly.

No problem, I’m in the middle of deciding if I should get this or the Hyundai one. Will let you know what I decide.

Hope your shoulder recovers quickly. Must be hard getting a new car but not being able to drive it

My wife is driving anf I'm happy for her to at the moment as I'm very sore.

I had a decompression operation to reduce impingement (they shaved a bone in the shoulder).

It's a problem that started about 10 years ago, but was treated with cortisone and physio until it deteriorated to the point I needed an op.

Been to France 3 times recently (renovating a property) and my wife has done all the driving in the old car, but I would like a go of the new one soon.

The iPod cable worked well once we had the plug pushed snugly in.

We need to work out how to set it to shuffle via the car as it is playing the tracks alphabetically at the moment.

Its only recently become like that in the UK. The brand has done really well in the last few years
