Hi All.

Have just recieved this email from the ACCC Product Safety.
:link: Hyundai Motor Company Australia Pty Ltd ? Hyundai i30 (FD) MY2007-2012 | Product Safety Australia
there is a VIN list to check if your vehicle is affected.

What are the defects?
Due to improper programming of the Airbag Control Unit (ACU), there is a possibility that the driver, passenger airbags and seat belt pretensioners could inadvertently deploy without impact.

What are the hazards?
If the airbag is deactivated or is inadvertently activated, this increases the risk of an accident and injury to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

What should consumers do?
Hyundai Motor Company Australia will notify affected owners in writing to bring their vehicle to an authorised Hyundai dealership and have the airbag control module reprogrammed, free of charge.

Affected owners can find their nearest dealer by visiting :link: Find a Dealer | Hyundai Australia

For further information, consumers can contact Hyundai's Customer Care Centre on 1800 186 306.

Wow! 106,000 vehicles! Must be pretty much  every FD ever sold in Australia. Failure (going off in error) can't be a very common occurrence though or surely we would have heard about at least a few incidences on here!  :crazy1:

Mick, When you read the random and mind numbing list, you may decide to save the thanks and just wait.

Its a basic Excel list, CTRL+F and put in your VIN to see if its on the list. Simples

Though as Dazzler mentioned, with the number at over 106K affected vehicles, it would most likely be every FD sold here.

Just called Hyundai Customer Care - dont bother calling them directly, call you local dealer. All HCC will do is transfer you through to the local dealer and save some time ;)

Hi All,  Had it done. The dealer wanted the car for 3 hours ( so they could schedule it around other cars) and they said the work would take an hour.  2.5 hours after drop off the car was done.  I bet as they do more of these, they will get faster.  Cheers

Today 6th May 2020, I received from Hyundai the attached letter in the mail. I was not aware of this recall until the letter arrived.
I would assume other i30 FD owners would receive a similar letter.

I seem to recall this has been known for quite some time. Not aware of any high profile injuries or accidents being reported on here or in the media, but they appear to have been quite slow contacting owners.  :undecided:

Both our I30 FD's done this week ..
One took around 2 1/2 hours from drop off at 8.30 (turned out 1st in first served even though it was booked in) , second one , today took a bit over an hour after drop off (shorter queue though)

Wow! You've still got them..  Cool.. I'm a shocker, we (the wife and I) have had something like 8 cars between us since the FD CRDi .. still have fond memories of it though... was  a shame the ashtrays got full.  :snigger:
Nice to see you still visiting us after 10 years as a member.  :goodjob:
