Good idea about the aftermarket cruise - if they try to hack the software on the electronic throttle to get it to work that way they're bound to stuff something up and if they put in a kit that works on the pedal it's not going to work that well and will not look as good on the inside of the car. And none of that would be covered by warranty. It also becomes a good excuse to blame you if the car ever gets any electrical issues. Stick with the genuine setup.

And for the $400 you also get fog lights. Pretty good value IMHO.

Congrats on your choice, I'm sure you'll love it.  :D

Yep. But they look a whole lot better than a blank space.

And IMO, $400 is bloody good value for factory fit.

I currently have 2 dealerships playing off for my sale.  One has been around this morning to do an appraisal and I did a contract up with quite a few special conditions.

The next dealer is coming around shortly, so I'll see what I can get out of him.

This is actually really fun!  I can see how people could get addicted to this - the power, oh the power!

You "guys" are lucky on the mainland. We only have one Hyundai dealer in Tassie with 4 outlets.. If I want to haggle I'll have to deal with some Melbourne dealers (and there is 200+ kilometres of Sea between me and them..)

My special conditions are all about my husband.  That he sees it, likes it, drives it, approves it AND that this is all at the dealership - these goings on at home do not count.

I also want CC, Park assist, 12mths rego and a full tank of fuel  8)

Hopefully by the end of the weekend we're cruising in our new i30cw :D

Oh and I'm not going for the manual.  We dont have anyone to babysit the kidlets, and I dont particularly fancy him learning to drive with them in the car.  Plus, I dont want him killing my new cars gearbox either (cause we all know that the new 'family' car is just for me and no one else, right??  lol)

As you're playing the dealers off against each other, just make sure that you're getting a 2010 model - there are still a few 2009 SXs around at some of the larger dealers and they're dealing hard to get rid of them (without necessarily telling you about it...)

Thank you for this!  Turns out one of the dealers was trying to sell us an early '10 plate that was an '09 body, so it didn't have the airbags throughout.  Considering most of the time there are more people in the back seat than in the front (2 children with me driving) airbags in the rear are a must and are certainly worth the extra $1K for the more 'expensive' dealership.

Tomorrow we go in to make our final offer, sign contracts and *hopefully* drive off in our new car :D

BINGO!!! they tried that with me... meh nothing wrong with an 09 car... as long as it has 6 airbags like you want!!!

HI Pinky,
just to put my 2bobs worth in, as your hubby is in pusses (RAN) you are probably entitled to national fleet discount which is usually the best price you can get.
My SLX CRDI i30 manual hatch cost me just under $23000 last August on the road. (I'm a T.P.I. [totally & perminatly disabled] old sailor/airman so I didn't have to pay
G.S.T. or stamp duty) I LOVE driving a manual car again. I hope this info is correct and of help to you.
Regards Phill

That's ok - I've been around long enuf to know a lot of those stoopid tricks - and obviously others in the club have struck it too. If you want to be sure about your Year Model, it's in the VIN. The 10th digit for a 2009 model will be "9" and for a 2010 model will be "A", i.e. the VIN for a 2009 will end "9Uxxxxxx" and a 2010 will end "AUxxxxxx". If it isn't what they told you it is, don't accept it.

no the correct way is to look at the black plate/sticker affixed in the passanger door jam... it will say "built dec '09" or "built jan '10"

I wouldn't be telling Michael (MRHi30) he is wrong being that he was a Hyundai Sales Manager in his previous life... (and I would imagine both these dates will agree with each other anyway )

this is how to tell when your car was built...

open the passanger door, you should see 2 placards...

the black one being the one fitted at the factory when the vehicle was built, detailing, the paint code, engine type, interior trim type, and most importantly build date... this is located on the "B pillar" under the door latch as shown in *pic A* and closer up in *pic b*

the other white one is when the vehicle was compilanced in australia, this WILL ALWAYS be the later date as they have to ship the car to australia, it then has to clear all the inportation stuff ect ect then it is put on... it is pretty much an aknowledgement that the car meets the relevent ADR codes, how many people it can seat and the approval number and the VIN of the car.... this is located by the dash just under the check strap on the "A pillar" as in *pic C*

here you can clearly see, it has the vin KMHDB51TLAUxxxxxx

BUT the black plate clearly states "built dec 09"

*pic A* location of plate

*pic B* blurry crap close up

*pic C* compliance plate

Michael stands corrected... (unless he can come up with a better explanation)

My 10th digit is 8 and my Build Date is Feb 2008 (03/08 on my compliance plate) but I already knew that
