Hey,

I’m replacing the front pads on my fiancé’s 2013 i30 Tourer, I’ve used 3 different sites and their car lookup service and they’ve all pointed me down the DB 2240 GCT pair for the front but they simply don’t fit.

I had the same trouble with my i30 2013 Premium, but can’t quite remember the part I ended up changing it for as it was a little while ago, I can’t seem to find the right part number, he genuine ones that are on the car currently are KBP 2505F GG but I can’t find a matrix to compare them to.

If anyone knows them can you please share the info here.

Hi, the physical shape looks like a DB2076, but that is listed as a rear brake pad for some I30's.

      Caloundra, Queensland.
Bendix used to and as far as I know still produce a massive reference guide with actual  size profile pics of every pad in their range.
Any decent brake parts specialist should have one.
Just match with your old pads to get the part number.

Are the pads way off, or is it about few millimetres?

Here, where salty roads and rust is a common issue,  people often file the pads to fit in their places. When rust gets under the pad assembly kit, it will cause the pad to get stuck as the groove where pads will slide comes tighter. With proper cleaning, new assembly kit and little bit of lubrication, I was able to get the new pads in. But they were so tight I knew I would cause issues later. So I took about 1 mm off from the ends of the metal in brake pads. Pads will now move easily and haven't had any stuck brake pads.

I've not been able to find an on-line catalogue for Bendix pads. When I bought some last year for the rear brakes of my 2015 car, they weren't right when I looked at them in the shop. They were missing the pips on the back to stop the caliper piston rotating. It was exactly the same with a box of Brembo pads and another brand. So, I wouldn't put too much faith in cross-referencing systems motor factors use. If I knew what the Bendix part number was and could look at a dimensioned drawing of it I would have saved a wasted trip. In the end, I bought some Pagid pads where were a proper fit, and came with new shim plates.

In comparison, the original Hyundai pads are better quality. The backing plate is stamped more cleanly with nice squared edges and radiussed corners. I unbolt the yoke from the hub and clean up the slots that the shims clip into, to remove rust and scale. The pads are a pretty tight fit anyway so another 0.5mm of rust can make the difference between sliding and jamming. When fitting the pads into the yoke, off the hub, it's a lot easier to see where they may be tight spots around the pads that could do with filing down.

Sorry for the late reply, they were well off and ended up being the Bendix DB2272 GCT.

They’re said to suit a Kia Rio and Cerato but not listed for the i30 even with the license plate look up service across all the leading car sites, had the same issue with my i30 so I should’ve made note but didn’t.

I guess someone else might find this useful in future.
