Hey everyone!

What shouldn’t be a deciding factor in vehicle purchase,  it somehow is!!

I’m tossing up between 2 i30’s- one early 2015 one early 2016.

They both have the same head unit, it’s touchscreen, sat nav enabled, I’ll try and add a picture.

Hyundai said the 2016 is able to be upgrades to apple CarPlay, but when I researched it said 3rd quarter of 2015 only... has this changed? Both units are the same, but when the cars are both advertised for the same price, but one has 70k and one has 140kms on the clock, it’s kind of a nobrainer to choose the one with less kms (oddly enough the 2015 model)

But I do really want to be able to update the software to enable apple.

Any ideas?

I'm not aware of any of the GD satnav models having Android Auto/Apple Carplay :undecided:

Hmmmm a real pickle!
I bought a 2016 for exactly the same reason. Found it with 16k km on it and had it shipped halfway across the country. Only to find no CarPlay......... not impressed.
Did research on this forum and found the firmware update. Yay!
I believe as you mentioned, it will unfortunately not apply to the 2015 model.
There is a thread on here somewhere about swapping out the stereo..... but that sounds like a pain...
sorry I’m not much help

Hmmm so weird huh! You’d think that the same head unit would have the same capacities for upgrades...

Kinda bummed if that’s not the case. Feeling for ya mister warby 😩

I do have a double din Sony apple CarPlay on my old car which I could swap out, but it is a bit of a hassle. Love the idea of just a quick software update tbh!

  • 2019 PD2 Go Petrol, Manual. 30,000 kms.
Find a PD which will have the features you want.
The kms might be up a bit to fit your budget, but get it checked out thoroughly and make sure it has full service history.
I don't know which state you are in, but here's one in Perth at (asking) $15k with 136,000 kms.
Also, the PD is a lovely car to drive.
