Sorry, re-posting to correct board...

Hi,

I'm hoping to purchase a 2011 Hyundai i30 CW SX Manual Petrol 2.0 and have been searching this forum for buying advice and found it to be really helpful, thanks.  Before I take the plunge, just wondering if I could get some last minute advice from you please...

The mileage on this particular car is approx 180,000km.  What's the average lifespan of this engine & model?  I've been trying to get hold of one with lower mileage, but the used car market's gone mental in Australia!  I'll probably be clocking another  20 - 30,000 KM a year and hope to own for 2-3 years. Is this a safe bet?

Any red flags / no-go's to proceed with purchase?   The car has FSH and looks like it's been well maintained.

I'll be getting a professional to conduct a full pre-purchase check, but are there anymore model specific items that need to be added this checklist?

- Air Con issues
- Check door, window and boot seals / sills for corrosion
- Handbrake recall repair done?
- Electric Stability Control (ESC) recall repair done?
- Rear hatch gas struts
- Paintwork & clear coat check
- Clutch
- Remote locking
- I read something about steering issues, can anyone elaborate on this?

Thanks again for your collective wisdom

      Caloundra, Queensland.
Any recalls which haven't been done should still be valid.

The steering issue is a knock in the steering, generally due to a bush which deteriorates.
It would have shown up long before now and been changed but whether the replacements are better I don't know.
I had mine (2009 FD) done around the 90,000 mark. Mine didn't cost due to "knowing someone" but I think normally around the $250 mark.

Beautiful car. Drove well.

As for all the other queries, I'd suggest any car with around 200,000 on the clock will develop the odd issue.
You can really only go on what your qualified inspection shows up I think.

Others may have further input.
