The star in the Reasonably Priced Car will be driving a Kia Cee'd 1.6

Not sure if it is the diesel or petrol as I was channel hopping watching the footie.

Now this is based on the i30 so it will be interesting how it performs.

Link to BBC iplayer but not sure if this only work in UK

Also, James gives Top Gear's favourite warhorse, the Toyota Hilux pick up, one final assignment as he attempts to drive one up an active volcano in Iceland;

Don't think it's available outside the UK

Quote
3.2      How you may NOT use BBC iPlayer

3.2.1    If you are outside of the UK

You may not watch or download BBC Content using BBC iPlayer if you are outside of the UK, although you may listen to some (but not all) BBC radio content if you are outside of the UK.

I'd forgotten it was on, so it'll be iPlayer for me later

They gave the top speed as 119mph and the 0-62 as 10.9 IIRC, so it has to be the petrol version.  They seemed to think that those were derisory figures - well they maybe don't compare to an Aston Martin but are plenty quick enough for the real world.

Traction control and ESP are an optional extra on the Cee'd, they didn't say it the car had it or not.

The figures around the circuit beat the previous car by a second or more. :)

I think they said it was £14k.  For less than that you get ESP etc as standard on the i30

Yep, just watched it as I was out dancing last night so recorded the show.

It is a petrol 1.6 since they said 124bhp, Jeremy was a bit down on Korean cars during the show, but I suspect that during the run we will see more reliability and speeds than the Chevvy could muster....................

You are correct eye, they said £14K which makes it mid-range, however the ESP is optional on that model and I suspect the way that it was sliding about all over the place suggests that it is not installed.

It is the petrol, as this link says it is "1,591 cc engine producing 124 brake horse power and a very flexible 113 lb’ft of torque"

http://www.girlracer.co.uk/motoring/news/5475-stars-in-a-reasonably-priced-kia-.html

ESP is only standard on the Cee'd 3 and this is a 2. I doubt if they'd have got it as an option as it would make the car easier to handle ! :)

Not sure if the RR had been set up.

I've been in and driven a RR and always found them stable.

I once got a Reliant Regal as a stop-gap between proper cars, though I ended up keeping it for over a year. Similar to the 'TIT' van but with windows at the back - bit like this -

It was fine for going to work and back, at least I didn't get wet if it rained as I would have on my motorbike.

Nearly overturned it on an A road keeping up with normal type cars though, but managed to correct it before me and passengers got killed. :)

Did an 800 mile tour round Scotland in the thing, which was fine - except for overheating on the way back. Bloody difficult to get to the engine to see what was wrong.

The i30 looks a lot better. The Cee'd looks a bit like a Ford Focus from some angles
