Hello!

First post on the forum but long time reader of posts.

My other half (against my advice!) took our i30 to Halfords to replace one of the "position light" bulbs that she said had fused to the power connector and she couldn't remove.  Halfords removed it with the aid of a screw driver and installed a replacement bulb which is now working, however in replacing the bulb the previously working headlights are now NOT working and there is no high beam either.

I've also noticed there is now no dashboard headlight indicators appearing at all (side lights, headlights and high beam).

We've checked the relevant fuses and also the relays with no success.

Any suggestions of what to check next?

Sadly, our local garage is saying it'll be two before they can book us in  :(

Any help/advice most welcome!

Thanks,

Fred.

Have you checked the bulbs to make sure they are fully home and any connectors are fully home?

Otherwise, I would be taking  back to Halfords as it would appear they have done something when removing the fused bulb.

Thanks for the reply, yes have just checked connectors a second time and they are all seated.

Halfords are proving difficult to deal with, can't actually get to speak with the store manager.

Have someone coming out to look at the electrics tomorrow, hopefully they can fix and inexepensively...

By chance are any other electrics not working?

Re fuses
Try replacing the fuse just in case it is dud even tho'it may look complete.

Also there is a fuse box in the engine area.
Have you checked all is ok there?

Auto electrician came out and fixed, it turns out that it was a blown 20A fuse in the engine compartment fuse box.  Very hard to see that it had gone visually, been meaning to buy a multimeter for a while now, so I think I will pick one up now.

Very decent chap who didn't charge for fixing.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions/help.

Glad to hear it's sorted.

I'm guessing they experienced some kind of electrical 'flash' when they were fiddling, but didn't think anything more of it
