Hi all,

Has anyone removed the plastic chrome inserts from these wheels? I really don't like the look of them. I think they are glued on but not sure.

Thank you

Hi Marty6424 and  :welcum:

My first i30 had similar alloys to those and they pitted under warranty. When I took the car for replacement inserts they simply unscrewed them from the inside, having removed each wheel. So my guess is they aren't glued but screwed.

Ahh thank you. I didn't think of that. I'll have a look inside the rim.

Had new tyres 2 weeks ago.

Watched fitter and all he did was removed wheel, flipped wheel over and knocked out centre from the inside with small type hammer.

Centre held in by several lugs.

Had to remove centre so he could place the wheel on his tyre removing/rebedding new tyre gizmo..

... knocked out centre from the inside

It's the 'chrome' inserts not the centre hub

Yep, it's just 2 phillips head screws from the inside. Unfortunately leaves 2 bolt holes when you remove then though.

Maybe what it needs is a custom-designed, personalised insert instead.  :whistler:
