Good afternoon friends, new to the forum so hello.
Where to start…..
My girlfriend has a Hyundai i30 as in the title which she’s had for 7/8yrs now and to be fair to it it’s doing well with 157k miles on it but I digress. We’ve been together for 4yrs now and the air conditioning had never worked since I’ve been about so paid to get it checked and gassed, she took it to the garage that she always uses for its service and it worked for about 2weeks if I remember right and then stopped, this is around 3yrs ago now.
I took it to another air con specialist who tested it again and told me all the gas had gone and the condenser had a crack/hole in it. I ordered a new condenser radiator which I fitted along with the built in air dryer and took it back, it was checked and then re-gassed.
If I remember right it worked but seemed intermittent it can be cold one second and then warm as if you’ve turned it off the next, I’ve come back to look at it every melting summer since.
So up to date it had the new condenser, been gassed, been back to the same garage to check as thought the intermittent problem may have been to much gas causing an over pressure when working flat out, but that was all good. I’ve recently even tried a second hand heater control panel, one with the heat and fan nobs on but has made no difference so put the original back in.
If you move the heat control nob between hot/cold and back again you hear the blower note chance as the flap inside moves so that’s ok. Also when you put the aircon on the condenser fan runs and you hear the engine new change as the compressor cuts in and out, the pipe from the compressor to the condenser is hot enough to burn you so the refrigeration cycle is working, but the temp inside can be described as cool ish at best through to “is the aircon even on” which is disappointing as would expect it to be Baltic to nut freezing!
Any ideas as I’ve been into the main dealer and they had to use the engine hoist to lift me off the floor!
