Hi,

My car Hyundai i30 Hatchback, Petrol was bought in 2016. 2 years go in 2022, the AC was not blowing cold air and the service centre, changed a O ring to fix the problem.
Recently in July 24, AC stopped working again and when i took to the technicians, they found a leak and recommended the AC compressor to be replaced...Now after 5 months, again the AC stopped working and today the same service technicians say that now the leak is in the evaporator and now this needs a replacement as well

With this car just being 8 years old, is this normal to happen, given that i do service the car yearly, and no symptoms were identified then.

Technician says that the AC is formed of several parts and when 1 part is fixed, it does not confirm that it will work fine.
I am already spending 20% of the Cars cost on the Air con.

Any recommedations?, what are the warranty of these parts??

If they are degassing the system for something major like the pump it pays to do the dessicant filter and expansion valve as they arent that expensive and can get messed up with debri in the system from the pump wearing out. Evapourators can get damaged from accidents and the like, just depends how or were it is leaking. However i wonder about the shops competancy, normally they put a die in to check for leaks and check the whole system over with a blacklight or some special light that highlights the die.

Thanks.this is an authorised Hyundai dealer. They said that the die test was done and traces were not found anywhere. And as evaporator is beneath the Dashboard they say it is not visible but the leak shud be from there
