Hi all, new to the club having just purchased a 2018 SR Premium hatch over the weekend. When inspecting the car I noticed the front badge was particularly dirty/cloudy, but thought it may come up nicely with a thorough clean. I’ve now noticed that the dirt and water damage appears to be behind the clear cover. Does anyone know if the clear cover can be removed, or if there’s a way to replace the badge completely without changing the whole grille assembly? I’ve seen some people mention that the front radar is situated behind the logo which makes things more complicated.

Mrs G has the same model and indeed the badge is also the aperture for the radar system.
We haven't had to mess with it to know whether there's a reversible way of removing the badge on its own and I'm certain a dealer will just tell you the whole radar unit will need to be changed out. Give it a while and some smart i30 members might give useful perspectives.

OK, so most models employing front radar behind the emblem have the module mounted on a cross member in front of the radiator and lining up with the emblem on the grille. I'm guessing any chance at a clean will have to start with removing the whole grille.

The other option - if your radar is working well - is to paint the emblem (blackout effect) using a plastic paint that won't interfere with the radar signal.

I wonder if the plastic outer of the emblem may clean up a bit using toothpaste (on a cloth not brush) as a mild abrasive cleaner.

I would be very careful doing anything around the area of the front radar.
I have seen some sad stories here on the forum, of dealers avoiding warranty replacement due to the slightest of damage.
