I've had to replace a broken EGT sensor 3 times already in just over 1 year now!

Short background: I tuned my car about 9 years ago and also had the DPF removed.
1 1/2 year ago I had to reinstall my DPF because the emission requirements had been strictened in our country and my car wouldn't pass anymore.
I had to revert the 'dpf delete' from my tuning and made my tuning a bit more moderate anyway. I also reverted the 'egr delete'.

A few months later my car went into limp mode, and it took me quite some time to learn what was going on.
Limp mode was caused by error P2002 (DPF filter clogged), and DPF regeneration couldn't start because of error P1405 (EGT temp too low). My car has 2 EGT sensors. The 1st one is inside the engine compartment and is located before the turbo. The second one is located underneath the car before the DPF.  Unfortunatly I couldn't read the 2 EGT sensors in Torque, but I had an old Aliexpress dongle which could. It was the 1st one that had failed. (It would always indicate 127 C degrees.) After replacing the sensor, the regenration worked again and the car was fine.

But a month ago I got error P1405 again. Again the 1st sensor. After replacing the car was fine.

And now yesterday again. I already had an extra sensor this time, and again after replacing the car was fine again.

So now I'm wondering, why do they fail so often? What's killing them?

I googled a bit and learned that high temperatures might be a cause. If so, what could be the cause of that? Is it the tuning? And what about the EGR? I thought that deleting it would increase temperatures, but instead I had enabled it again.

Any thoughts?
