Hello Folks

I’ve used the search function and can’t find anything similar. First time i30 owner here. Apologies if this is in the wrong forum section.

The ISG system should, according to everything I’ve read, not shake the engine on shut down or result in audible knocking as the engine comes to a stop. It’s not every time, say 50%

What could be the cause of this ?

I’ve taken the precaution of turning it off each time as I don’t like the sound, it’s not healthy and the shaking won’t be doing the mounts any good.

63k on the clock, well serviced and no other issues seemingly.

I’ve run torque pro using a cheapo ELM327 and there’s no fault codes but am prepared to believe I need some custom PIDs or a better ELM ODB device

TIA!
Ps. Technical terms are fine

Hello All

I’m struggling to find the location of this sensor. Spent a full and fruitless hour underneath the vehicle attempting to locate it

Has anyone else found it?

Suspect I may have to remove airbox and battery holder to access.

Tia!

Pretty sure this is the CKP as discovered a po335 error that had been archived. Plus when it does shut down incorrectly there’s a pause in the engine which I take to be positioning error

Stand to be proved wrong but all the other potentials aren’t in the picture

Try the car scanner ELM OBD2 app, works better than torque on Hyundai, the sensor according to the parts diagram is on the back of the engine in between the clutch bell housing and the crankcase, you may be able to access it by removing the battery tray, not sure.

Hi All

After an hour of hunting I cannot find the crank position sensor. It’s not where any of the YT videos place it and not visible underneath either.

Really frustrated and hoping someone can confirm exact location

Many thanks!

Find the nearside driveshaft where it goes into the gearbox and it's above that if you follow the case split line

It must be just out of sight from underneath then and obscured by the subframe. Suspect I’ll have to remove the battery tray to access

Thank you for the assist!!!

So…

Took the battery tray out, was easy enough. No surprises

Still can’t see it  :crazy1:

Next step remove under tray, battery tray and get some really powerful lights in there and a second pair of eyes.

Really frustrating!
