Great to get such a warm welcome.  BTW, this is first online car forum I have ever joined and I am very impressed with the technical and general info folks share.  In a previous life I worked restoring antique automobiles ("horseless carriages" really) circa 1900 - 1910 vintage; the kinds of cars that had hand made brass lights that ran on kerosene or acetylene gas.  I worked for a small company that hand manufactured the brass lights and fittings. I learned A LOT and got to work on some real beauties. Attended car meets at Harrah's automobile club in Reno and had lots of good times with collectors and petrol heads (motor heads) in general. It's love of a pretty machine doing what she does best... look great and run like the wind! Cheers to all the builders and modifiers.

Not sure that I even have any photos left!  This was back in the mid-70s.  But if you google any of the cars from that era (Ford model A, Maxwell, Stanley Steamer, Moon, Whippet, etc) chances are the head lights or sidelights were either built or restored by the small company that I worked for.

Stanley Steamer Frame (pic 1)
Stanley Steamer Spare Parts (pic 2)

Wait a minute... what's that white coloured spare part at the left-bottom of the second pic?... Is it what i'm thinking?

Yes, It is!

Sorry, you have to look at the middle bottom of the 3rd pic.
The white thing...
If you still can't see an unusual "spare part", then i'll have to visit my eyedoctor. Or my psychotherapist...

Interesting link thanks m8 ... to the untrained eye the $2800 ones don't necessarily look much better than the $400 ones..

Maybe the $2.800 ones are original /restored and the others just replicas?

Right-o. makes a difference if the hardware is original, restored or "new replica".  The headlights run on acetylene gas; the sidelights and taillights run on kerosene (with wicks, just like storm lanterns). These are all pre-electricity fittings. These lights are from a era when hand manufacturing automobile parts was standard operating procedure.  Everyone designed and built something!

No brass plating.  Unless you didn't want to show your car. And most guys who trick out their old cars definitely want to show!
