Gday, i'm Luke and we hail from Sydney Aus.

We are proud new owners of a black i30 CRDi manual MY11 SLX model. Saturday is when we finally pick it up !

We traded in our Getz which served us for 7 years with zero problems (38500kms), we got $6K as a trade

Change-over of $20,000

plus

car mats
metallic paint
ipod connector
all on roads
mud guards

Drove the 2.0L and loved that as well, but the diesel was the eventual winner!

My guess hatch, as there is no MY11 CW SLX diesel in manual for Australia (auto only)...

Welcome to the club, good choice of colour! Black is very popular in UK but I hadn't heard of that many in Oz? Good name too (our baby son is called Luke) :)

Thanks guys, what a great forum this is, I think Hyundai have come a long way and clearly put together a great car in the i30

Yes we did get the hatch, no need for the wagon at this stage for us.

I am also looking into the Whispbar roof racks option  & rear attachment to put bikes down the track. I havent got a quote for them yet.

I did get a quote for a rear spoiler from the dealer Ryde Motor Group today, $315 (colour coded of course) which i'll fit myself,.

There will also be a pair of JL VR-600 split speakers for the front (thanks to the information on this forum and the strong Aussie dollar - ebay $250 with a one week delivery time)

L30n - yes black isn't the best choice of colour heat-wise for this country, i'm hoping the air con works OK? In the end the Mrs wanted black, I wanted the CRDi, so we compromised !

Pics to come!

Hi again Luke.. Glad you like the forum..

If you Search Bike rack you might find some helpful info on here (a few owners/members have them)

The air con was very good on my car and most are happy with it.. The trick is to drop all 4 windows for a minute or so when first entering the car after it has been parked for a while then shut them and crank up the air con..

Thanks Dazzler, I know this trick well. but on 35 plus degree days, I think i'm going to wish I had settled for the petrol veriosn (and got my way with the paint colour).

You must have had some spirited drives in the diesel around Tassy's winding roads i'm guessing?  I miss the days we could get the Spirit of Tassy direct from Sydney, get straight in the car and drivearound that beautiful part of the world.

No mate never say that.. The Diesel is worth getting "hot and bothered" over

The Crdi was absolutely Awesome on the winding uphill runs around Devonport ... I miss that with my new car (although it has other features I enjoy)..

I gotta feelin' I'm going to replace the wife's car with another diesel one day.
